2023 Trends in Suspended Ceilings

2023 Trends in Suspended Ceilings

In the construction and interior design industries, suspended ceilings are fast becoming one of the most respected alternatives to a traditional ceiling. This is largely in part thanks to their versatility, both in design and usage, and aesthetics and style.

2023 is proving to introduce some interesting and diverse trends in suspended ceilings; here are the ones to keep an eye on.

Wood ceilings for a natural atmosphere

If there is one interior design trend that’s more popular than ever, it’s the natural aesthetic — which means lots of wooden furniture, colours like soft green, beige, cream, and brown, and natural fabrics.

If you’re going for a natural design in your new home, office fit-out, or retail space, don’t neglect your false ceiling. Choosing a wood false ceiling could be an excellent way to tie the whole look together.

Metal false ceiling

With wood on the rise, you might expect to see a dip in the popularity of materials like metal. But this is far from the case. Metal false ceilings occupy their own niche in the market, providing a clean and sterile feel that particularly suits some offices, public buildings, and medical centres.

These ceilings are durable and easy to install, making them pretty hassle-free to maintain in the long term.

Geometric suspended ceilings

Geometric suspended ceilings are eye-catching, edgy yet modern, and perfect for spaces that want to exude a professional, innovative feel. What’s not to like?

Especially ideal for commercial properties wishing to stand out, these suspended ceilings take inspiration from the iconic art deco era of design. Featuring smart, sharp lines, and boasting motifs of squares, circles, triangles and almost any other shape that you can think of, this trend is certainly going to stick around.

At SLP Interiors, we like to stay in the know with all the latest false ceiling trends. We’ve had plenty of practice installing geometric patterned ceilings in the last few years, so give us a call if this is something you’re interested in.

Rustic suspended ceilings

The rustic aesthetic has been in the spotlight for a while now. It seems to be the rage with everything from doors and floors to kitchen counters… and now suspended ceilings. Some people don’t like their space to feel too pristine. The rustic trend is a fantastic way of making an interior feel more casual, cool, and “lived in”.

With false ceilings, there are two ways that the rustic trend can be achieved…

The first is to directly attach planks of wood to the original ceiling to form a new lower, panelled ceiling. The downside to this is that it is possibly trickier. However, the end result is more authentic. The second option is to create a traditional suspended ceiling first, then simply lay wood panels on top. This is easier to do but is more costly as you have to first install the normal false ceiling.

Minimalist suspended ceilings

This trend is all about clean-cut lines and minimal design. Particularly popular in luxury fashion and home stores, a minimalist suspended ceiling is the ideal way to hide wiring while keeping the focus on products and exuding sophistication through simplicity.

Typically, minimalist designs consist of a single-block colour, not necessarily white. A vibrant colour such as red, yellow or blue can be a great way to set your building apart and make the suspended ceiling a talking point.

If you don’t want your false ceiling to be too obvious, going for a minimal look can be great for this too. Chic, discreet, and neat, is minimal the right vibe for you?

HVAC and false ceilings

It’s also worth mentioning that we have seen an increase in people wanting to use heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) alongside their suspended ceilings. To learn more about HVAC and false ceilings, contact us for a chat today.
